David decided when he was around 13 that he wanted to keep pigeons and built his own pigeon loft.  Dad told him he wasn't allowed any more than 6!  Then Dad decided to get involved and they started to race them together as Sharpe and Son, they ended up with a lot more than 6.  They even went to Scotland to buy pigeons.  This carried on until David left for University then Dad kept the hobby going..
